After Session 1, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of Peer Support, including how it differs from clinical services
  2. Name at least 2 benefits of Peer Support to people in recovery and/or the agencies where they work
  3. Explain 1 “must do” and 1 “must not do” related to implementing a Peer Support Program

After Session 2, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe how people are using their lived experience to support others
  2. Give at least two examples of the different paths to recovery
  3. Name at least two concrete strategies outside of formal (clinical) services to support persons experiencing mental health/substance use challenges

After Session 3, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe 3 tips for the effective use of lived experience in a professional role
  2. Identify 2 steps required to become certified as a Peer Specialist in Texas
  3. Report at least 1 “must do” and 1 “must not do “to promote change at agencies where Peer Supporters work“
