Peace of Mind Conference

Tuesday, May 21, 2019
4 to 6 p.m.

AgriLife Research & Extension
6500 West Amarillo Boulevard

The Peace of Mind Conference is a free community event for connecting and learning about behavioral health issues, including mental health and substance use. The conference is presented by the Panhandle Behavioral Health Alliance and is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the AgriLife Research and Extension Center, 6500 West Amarillo Boulevard.

Terry Bentley Hill, a former Amarillo newscaster and nationally recognized mental health advocate and criminal defense attorney in Dallas, will give the keynote address. Her focus on mental health issues began after the deaths by suicide of her first husband and 14-year-old daughter. It is her mission to help others suffering from mental health disorders by sharing her story of pain and healing.

The conference also will include an “Ask the Expert” panel discussion. Questions for the panelists regarding mental health issues, substance use disorders and other addictions can be submitted ahead of time by emailing Shawrlette@PanhandleBehavioralHealthAlliance.org.

In addition, the conference includes light refreshments, a resource fair and an art exhibit featuring works by people with lived experiences of behavioral health conditions.

Seating is limited. For free registration, please go to PanhandleBehavioralHealthAlliance.org/POM

Sponsors of the conference are Happy State Bank, Street Auto Group and Underwood Law Firm, with support from AgriLife Extension, Panhandle PBS and United Way of Amarillo and Canyon.
